February Coyote Sightings:
Residents are reminded of what may be considered an increase in sightings of coyotes within the OH neightbourhood recently, including sightings within Ron Searle Park during the day. Residents are strongly encouraged to be aware of this both during the day and in the evenings, and to take additional precautions respecting their smaller children and their pets. The City has posted additional warning signs at the entrance to Orchard Heights Park that your BOD had requested, however, since sighting of these wild animals that are both hungry after the winter and in their mating season have occurred within our streets themselves also, residents caution should be extended throughout the entire neighbourhood.
Let’s all be aware for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones.

Dixie Road / Rometown Drive intersection issues
From: Lynn Judge [mailto:Lynn.Judge@mississauga.ca] On Behalf Of Jim Tovey Sent: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 3:01 PM To: 'Dudley Briggs' Subject: RE: Dixie Mall / Dixie Road intersection
Hi Dudley
This is what was sent to our office.
Lynn
“This is in response to the resident request to review the eastbound left turn movement at the intersection of Dixie Road at Rometown Drive. Staff have completed the necessary studies and wish to offer the following comments. Eastbound bound left turn delay studies were conducted during the a.m. and p.m. peak hour periods. The results of the eastbound left turn studies are as follows:
The traffic delay study results indicate that no eastbound left turning motorists experienced any traffic signal cycle delays during the above noted periods.
A review of our most recent five year reportable collision history revealed only one collision involving eastbound left turning vehicles and zero collision involving westbound left turning vehicles. Therefore, both movements are not considered to be hazardous.
Based on the above information, we will not be installing an eastbound left turn arrow phase for the above intersection at this time. However, we will continue to monitor the movement at this intersection and make any necessary changes as they become warranted.
As you aware, the pavement marking revisions at this intersection will be conducted as soon as our sprint program starts.”

Orchard Heights Park Closure Pilot Project.
February 27 2013: The City of Mississauga Parks Department will be holding a public meeting on February 27th 2013 at which time they will hear any comments from residents following last year’s summer closure to vehicles, and update us on their recommendations to Council for the summer 2013 season.
April 2012: Due to the overheilming repsonse from our community residents, as a pilot project, the Orchard Heights Park will remain closed to vehicular traffic for 1 year. After the summer of 2012, based on feedback from the City, conservations authority staff and Orchard Heights residents, a decision will be made on continuing the closure or not.

Second units are self-contained units in single-family homes. They are often called basement apartments or in-law suites.
Second units can expand housing opportunities within established communities and provide much needed safe, healthy, housing choices. They can offer accommodation for people with affordability issues such as youth, older adults and new immigrants. They can also provide additional income for young couples looking to buy their first home or older adults wanting to stay in their neighbourhood.
The City of Mississauga is developing a Made-in-Mississauga strategy that includes second units, as well as other housing initiatives to meet our City’s needs. Public consultation sessions are planned for early 2012 to discuss how to meet the provincial requirements in a way that works in Mississauga.
Watch for more information on the City’s website at www.mississauga.ca or contact by e-mail at Housing.Choices@mississauga.ca
